I get frequent calls and faxes from a lot of different organizations asking for me to "update my information" and I just received one from the Grand Rapids Business Journal.  They are asking if I want to verify my information and be part of a list. 

Do any of you have experience with this group and do you think this is something that businesses in the area should do or is it not worthwhile? 

Could a couple of you please send me some feedback so I can formulate a strategy for this group and others of it's kind?

Hi David,

The Grand Rapids Business Journal is a pretty reputable organization. I'm necessarily endorsing them, I'm just saying I don't think they are trying to scam you. I wouldn't be too worried about updating your professional information with them. But, if you do, you should expect to receive correspondence from them on a regular basis.

Yes, usually responding gives organizations official permission to contact you frequently.
